The Eye Institute @ Hartford Hospital is a well-equipped state-of-the-art facility providing a complete spectrum of ophthalmology surgery.

There are more than twenty eye surgeons who practice in the facility. Refractive surgery (LASIK) as well intra-ocular (cataract, corneal, retinal and glaucoma), plastic (lid, ocular tumor, basal cell, cosmetic) and eye muscle surgery are procedures that they perform skillfully and regularly.

Eye surgery has long been performed at Hartford Hospital. Changing technology has allowed The Eye Institute to become (since 1998) a part of the Ambulatory Surgery Center at Hartford Hospital. Surgery is performed in three modern operating rooms dedicated to eye surgery. All the latest technology is available. The Department of Ophthalmology has staff on call at all times for the emergency room to cover emergency or traumatic eye problems.
