The Hartford Hospital Cancer Registry is a component of the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center. The Cancer Program at Hartford Hospital is approved by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. The Registry dates back to 1928 and contains over 89,000 patient records.
The goal of the Cancer Registry is to assist health care providers and researchers in the prevention and control of cancer, and to improve patient care by collecting, analyzing, and managing cancer data.
The registry is staffed by credentialed professionals trained in the collection and analysis of cancer information.
Cancer Registry Data Collection And Use
Cancer data collected by the registry is reported to the Connecticut Tumor Registry under State of Connecticut Public Law, Chapter 333, Sec. 19-36-1, 2 and also to the National Cancer Data Base in compliance with Commission on Cancer program standards. The registry is a covered entity within the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and follows all privacy and confidentiality regulations.
