Jeffrey A. Flaks is president and CEO of Hartford Hospital, the flagship tertiary care center of Hartford HealthCare, a regional, integrated health care network with more than 15,000 staff members and $2 billion in net revenue. Hartford Hospital, an acute-care teaching hospital established more than 150 years ago, has more than 7,000 staff members. The hospital operates the only level one trauma center in the area and the only air ambulance service in Connecticut. Hartford Hospital has received the National Research Corporation’s “Consumer Choice Award,” the American Heart Association’s “Silver Plus Award” for its Stroke Center and “Blue Distinction” awards for its Joint and Spine Centers. The hospital’s Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center is the only cancer center in the Northeast to be selected by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) as an NCI Community Cancer Center. Mr. Flaks is also the executive vice president of Hartford HealthCare.

Hartford Hospital Board of Directors
Mr. Deavens is senior vice president and chief financial officer of USIG Finance with MassMutual Financial Group. Mr. Deavens is a member of Hartford HealthCare’s finance committee. He was elected a Hartford Hospital corporator and a member of the board of governors in 2008.
Mr. Elliot is president of commercial markets with The Hartford Financial Services Group. A member of the Hartford Hospital Board of Directors since 2002, Mr. Elliot is now chairman of the board. He has been a Hartford Hospital corporator since 2000.
Ms. Fox is former senior vice president of Aetna Health, where she was responsible for overseeing end-to-end support and management across all Aetna product areas. Ms. Fox is a Hartford Hospital corporator. She was elected to the hospital’s board of governors in 2007, and joined the board of directors in 2010.
Mr. Henry is executive vice president and chief financial officer for XL Insurance, a $5 billion property and casualty insurance company with operations in 25 countries. Mr. Henry assumed his role in Hartford in 2007 after serving as XL’s chief financial officer of Asia and Europe for two years while based in London. Before joining XL Insurance, he served as executive vice president and global controller for XL Global Services Inc. and XL UK Services Ltd. from 2003 to 2005. He also served on an interim basis as senior vice president for XL Group in Bermuda in 2005. Mr. Henry has more than 36 years of technical, financial management and leadership experience in the financial services industry. He served as chief financial officer and then chief operating officer of Meadowbrook Insurance Group in Southfield, Mich. from 1993 to 2003, and also served as president of Meadowbrook’s insurance company operations. His experience also includes serving as chief financial officer and chief administrative officer for the Hanover Insurance Company in Worcester, Mass. from 1987 to 1993, and as an audit partner with KPMG in their New York, Bermuda and Boston offices from 1974 to 1987. Mr. Henry earned a bachelor’s of business administration in accounting from Bernard M. Baruch College at the City University of New York. He is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of CPAs.
Mr. Jones is managing principal of Divestiture Partners, a Hartford-based corporate development and strategy advisory company focused on helping corporations, private equity firms, and government and non-profit entities execute unique divestitures and acquisitions. Mr. Jones assumed his current position in 2008. He has more than 20 years of experience in finance, strategy development, business capitalization and integration, planning and analysis, divestitures and acquisitions, and general management, and has completed and participated in transactions in excess of $2 billion. Prior to joining Divestiture Partners, Mr. Jones served as division president of the shock system/industrial group with United Technologies Corporation’s Pratt & Whitney Division in 2008; president and general manager of the specialty materials and services business unit of Pratt & Whitney from 2004 to 2008; and director of strategy development for Pratt & Whitney from 2000 to 2004. His earlier experience also includes serving as VP of business development for Bechtel in Chicago from 1997 to 2000, VP of investment banking for J.P. Morgan Securities Inc. from 1994 to 1997, and VP of investment banking for Lehman Brothers from 1987 to 1994. Mr. Jones earned an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, a master’s in public management from Carnegie Mellon University and a BS from Morgan State University. He has served as a Hartford Hospital corporator.
Mr. Joseph is president and CEO of Hartford HealthCare (HHC), the premiere health care network in Connecticut with 15,000 employees and $2 billion in net revenue. The HHC system includes Hartford Hospital; The Hospital of Central Connecticut; MidState Medical Center; Windham Hospital; The Institute of Living psychiatric center; VNA HealthCare and VNA of Central Connecticut, which provide visiting nurse services throughout the state; Clinical Laboratory Partners with more than 80 locations statewide; Hartford Medical Group; MidState Medical Group; Central Connecticut Senior Health Services, which includes five assisted-living and skilled nursing facilities; Eastern Rehabilitation Network; and two regional behavioral health centers, Rushford and Natchaug Hospital. Mr. Klene is president and CEO at Mott Corporation. Mr. Klene joined the Hartford Hospital board of directors in 1999 and has been a corporator since 1996. He chairs the quality and credentialing committee, and is a member of the development (former Chairman) and planned giving committees.
Dr. Markowitz is past chairman of the Department of Radiology at Hartford Hospital. He is a partner with Jefferson Radiology and has served on their board of directors for 21 years. Dr. Markowitz is board-certified by the American Board of Radiology and has specialty training and interest in abdominal imaging and gastrointestinal radiology. Mr. McHale is executive vice president and chief financial officer of the Hartford-based Northeast Utilities, New England’s largest utility system serving more than two million electric and natural gas customers. Mr. McHale assumed his current position in 2005. He is a member of NU’s executive committee, chair of the enterprise risk and capital committee, and chair of the pension committee. Mr. McHale joined the NU System in 1981 as a student intern in the economic and loan forecasting organization. He became a full-time research analyst in marketing and consumer economics in 1982 and joined the company’s financial planning group in 1986. In 1989, he joined the treasury organization and was promoted to manager of investor relations. In 1993, he was promoted to manager of project and short-term finance, and in 1995 was named assistant treasurer. He was promoted to vice president and treasurer in 1998. Mr. McHale has a BS in economics from Southern Connecticut State University and an MBA in finance from the University of New Haven. He is a graduate of Stanford University’s Executive Financial Management Program and Executive Program in Strategy and Organization.
Dr. Nestler is a board-certified gastroenterologist who has been the director of the Division of Gastroenterology at Hartford Hospital since 2002, and is president of Connecticut GI, PC, (CTGI) a private practice consisting of more than 25 physicians and 9 mid-level providers with multiple clinical facilities throughout the state of Connecticut. He has served as the managing partner/medical director of the CT GI Endoscopy Center, LLC since 2000, and CEO/medical director of the Glastonbury Endoscopy Center, LLC since 2009. Dr. Nestler has been president of the medical staff at Hartford Hospital since 2009 and had served as vice president from 2007 to 2009. He has been a member of the Hartford Hospital board since 2007, and is a corporator at both Hartford and Day Kimball Hospitals. Dr. Nestler also serves on a variety of professional committees including the American College of Physician Executives, and the Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee (Connecticut Chapter). He maintains membership with the Connecticut State Medical Society, Hartford County Medical Association, American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterology Association. Dr. Post is a board-certified nephrologist and internal medicine practitioner with Connecticut Multispecialty Group, a wholly physician-owned and managed practice with more than 80 physicians and 25 mid-level providers in primary care and 14 specialty areas. CMG implemented a full electronic health record system in 2006 and has initiated a patent-pending portable personal electronic health record for improved patient medical history availability. Dr. Post, who is affiliated with Hartford Hospital, is an assistant clinical professor at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He has been featured as one of the “Top Doctors in Connecticut” as selected by Connecticut Magazine, Hartford Magazine and Northeast Magazine (Nephrology, 2008). Dr. Post completed medical school at East Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, his internship in internal medicine at Yale University and a fellowship in nephrology at the University of Pennsylvania. Ms. Rodriguez has been president and CEO of Community Renewal Team Inc. in Hartford, one of the largest community action agencies in the United States, since 2005. She had been with CRT since 1999 as EVP and COO. Ms. Rodriguez was formerly director of finance with the Division of Special Education for the New York City Board of Education, and principal financial analyst with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. She also serves on the boards of Capital Community College, Hartford Club and Central Connecticut State University, and has served as a Hartford Hospital corporator. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bernard A. Baruch College in New York City, and a master’s degree in management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Hartford.
