Respiratory Therapy Program Information
respiratory
The School of Allied Health is affiliated with the Manchester Community College and the University of Hartford Respiratory Care programs.

The two-year Manchester Community College program leads to an Associate of Science degree. The four-year University of Hartford program leads to a Bachelor of Science degree.

Graduates of both programs are eligible to take the Entry Level Examination (Certified Respiratory Therapist) offered by the National Board for Respiratory Care and will be eligible for a temporary State License. The Respiratory Care programs are accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).

The philosophy of the programs is based on the premise of graduating well educated, competent, ethical and professional respiratory therapists, capable of providing quality care to their patients, of serving as an integral part of the health care team, and able to meet the challenges of a changing health care environment.

Respiratory therapists must be able to provide various services to a diverse population of individuals, who are afflicted with a wide range of pathological processes ranging from chronic to acute and life threatening.
